Muhammad Hashim Khafi Khan or Hashim Ali Khan, is better known simply as Khafi Khan. Khafi Khan is known for his history of the infamous Mughal ruler Aurangzeb. The history, entitled Muntkhab ul-Lubab, describes Aurangzeb as cruel and divisive in his policies. Oddly, though Muntkhab ul-Lubab could not have been written until after 1699, no reference exist of Khafi Khan after 1658. It is possible, that Khafi Khan is simply a nom de plume, for dissenting voices within Aurangzeb's court. Furthermore, Khafi Khan's History is of questionabls originality. The text seems too similar the the earlier written, insert by insert.
