- Kongu Velir - Translated the Brhatkatha in Sanskrit into Tamil as Perungathai (one of the aiynkurun kappiyams or the five smaller epics)(14th cent Vijayamangalam).
- Sekkizhar - minister of Kulottunga who compiled 'Periyapuranam', a treatise on Saivite saints.(There is a graphic description of his life and how he came to write this magnum opus is narrated in a 14th cent Tamil work Thiruttoá¹�á¸?ar-purÄ?á¹�a-varalÄ?ru. SekkiḻÄ?r who belongs to an agriculturist family of Veḷḷaḷar, rose to be the Chief-minister to the Choḻa emperor Kulottuá¹�ga II. The work ascribed to UmÄ?pati Å�ivam of 14th cent gives two significant titles of SekkiḻÄ?r. He is called "Gaá¹�gÄ?-kula-tilaka" (verse -59) and "BhÄ?gÄ«rati-kula-Tilaka")
