What I Do

[edit]

My Role on Wikipedia

[edit]

My role on Wikipedia has changed in the past year or so, i've found much of the time is focused on the text of Wikipedia and not on the quality of the graphics uploaded, it is for this reason that i've decided to become a wikiggraphicist and try to keep non free media such as logos, screenshots and other non free media to the highest quality allowed under WP:NFCC. Through The Simple processes of PNG optimization and SVG Conversion i have saved the Wikipedia servers well over one gigabyte of data storage!

AutoWiki Browser User

[edit]

Many of my minor append/prepped tasks such as welcoming a new user or adding a navigation template are semi-automated with the help of the automatic wiki browser, so please if you wish to remove content that falls under this spectrum please comment it out instead of deleting it, this will keep AWB from putting it there again, Thank You!

SVG Transition Advisory

[edit]

I would like to notify all visitors that i do transition many raster fair-use logos to SVG, these transitions are typicality with an identical logo and will be flagged with the {{vector version available|flilenamehere.svg}} template and i will try to keep them the same file name to avoid confusion. The Image Description Page is then copied and pasted to the Vector version ad edited to match sources correctly. This is done to make the changes near or as close to transparent to the end user. Due to the nature of my mass SVG creation, I often don't know the context of what I am adding.

What are the benifits of SVG transition?

[edit]

Benifits of SVG images

[edit]
  • Don't get "grainy" when enlarged or "fuzzy" when shrunk like raster (normal) images
  • They take up less space, about 1/2 the file space of a raster file of the same size
  • They are more copying & editing resistant, as many Wikipedia end users use Windows or Mac OS and are not familiar with the SVG file format
  • The thumbnails are generated as PNG a high quality, lossless raster graphic.
  • They are more easily editable than Raster (PNG, BMP, GIF and JPG) images.

Downfalls of Raster (normal) images

[edit]
  • They get "grainy" when enlarged or "fuzzy" when shrunk
  • They take up as much space as their resloulton allows
  • They can be easily copied, altered, and redistributed.
