Article Evaluation

[edit]

During the quarantine I have been watching a lot of Tik Tok and have seen millions of people trying to replicate Starbucks drinks. It is crazy how many people love Starbucks including myself. Starbucks is a huge company and I have heard so many good things about them. I have always drank some sort of coffee or tea every morning on the way to school for that little kick of caffeine. I love trying new things and at one point I had told myself that I wanted to try everything on the Starbucks menu. I visited the Teavana[1] article on Wikipedia, and I found three aspects of it worth commenting on: If each fact cited with appropriate, reliable source. Is this article up to date and are some viewpoints over-represented or under-represented.

Appropriate and Reliable Sources

Looking over this article there seemed to be a lot of great accurate information and it was really interesting. Every topic and at least one link to where the person found all of their information which is very reliable to me. When talking about teas and where they came from there was a lot of in-depth explaining which I thought was very interesting. All of the sentences were well explained and they didn't go on forever. It was really easy to comprehend what I was reading and learn some background on the tea they sell at Starbucks. Something that caught my eye when reading this article was they stated that ''Teavana has donated over 100,000 dollars to benefit young women across the US and Canada, helping them transition between high school and college'' I personally thought that was amazing and wish they would have went a little more into it and explained some more on that and why they did to for just women.

Is this Article Up-to date

This article seems very up to date and It says that it was last published on December 30th 2020 which was just over a month ago so that seems pretty Up-to date to me. When I was reading it, it didn't seem like I was reading something from the 1900s it seems very real and stuff that I have heard before.

Viewpoints Over-Represented or Under Represented

In this article about Teavana I think a lot viewpoints are under represented because chewy give you all this information in the beginning of the topic and then it stops and you just want to know more It would of been really nice to know some of the things that they have stated like them donating $100,000 dollars to women like I mentioned in the 2nd paragraph. There were just a couple of viewpoints that were Over- Represented that I could tell but honestly I would rather have over represented then Under because then they are telling you the background of the topic and that is always nice to know.

Conclusion

Overall I thought this was a well written article, it was nice to know some knowledge in the Teavana tea that Starbucks sells and some background on where it came from and how it produced. Now I want to read more about to espresso and how that all started and where that came from.
