Louisiana State University's Business Education Complex
[edit]Louisiana State University’s Business Education Complex (BEC) contains approximately 156,000 square feet of space. The BEC is comprised of 2 banks of pavilions which will house classrooms and departmental offices, a four story rotunda, and an auditorium. The purpose of the BEC is to have the Business School located in one central area, thus creating a “campus within a campus” concept. The following departments are to be located within the business school: Accounting, Economics, Finance, ISDS, Management, Marketing, Master of Business Administration, Graduate & Executive Education, Central Administration, General College Services, and many more.
Construction on the Business Education Complex began on March 1, 2010 and is scheduled to be completed by 12/22/2011. The Lemoine Company was contracted to complete the construction of the BEC at $39,978,000. Coleman Partners Architects designed the BEC with a blending of modern glass, metal and stone with sloped gabled roofs and arches in order to capture and reflect LSU’s Italianate architectural style. The new complex will be comprised of many teaching spaces, collaborative team rooms, and commons areas. The BEC is located on Nicholson Drive Extension next to the current home of the E. J. Ourso College of Business, Patrick F. Taylor Building.
