Efforts to secure community help in the college development. Assistance to college administration in admissions, discipline, examination, college development etc., Punctuality, Honesty, Integrity, Conduct and Character.

DR.K.Jeevan Rao has planned and carried out extensive experiments on organic waste recycling in agriculture and clearly brought out the effects of urban solid wastes, Industrial effluents and sewage farming on soil and water pollution and its effects on crop growth and heavy metal fractionation and their bioavailability and food chain aspects in agriculture for the last 27 years. The investigations have contributed towards understanding the nature and extent of soil and water pollution hazards due to urban solid wastes, Industrial effluents and sewage waters and sludge under farmers field and landfill conditions and helped to develop strategies for their safe utilization in agriculture. Several requests (60) have been received from 20 countries for reprints of his publications on Soil & Water Pollution and heavy metals. Based on his research work university published an extension leaflet in telugu on urban solid wastes as manure-problems and prospects for the use of peri-urban farmers,
His work has had far-reaching applications in such diverse areas of solid waste management, soil and water pollution, and heavy metals in food chain etc. His studies will be useful in developing soil quality policies and understanding linkages among soil, waste, water pollution and environmental protection. Google web search indicated 800 citations on his research work. His research papers were widely cited around the world. He went on to develop a laboratory in the university for the first time for the study of soil and water pollution and organic waste recycling in agriculture by incorporating the interdisciplinary style.
As a P.I. DR.K.Jeevan Rao has successfully completed an ICAR Adhoc Project entitled “ Impact of longterm land application of urban solid wastes on soil chemical properties”(1997-2000). The ICAR appreciated his research contributions. In the words of ICAR “ the project has brought out valuable information on composition of urban solid waste and effect of its long term application on accumulation of heavy metals / toxic elements in soils and crops. Such information is desired with the environmental upkeep becoming the basic tenet of life”. The studies significantly contributed in understanding the long term effects of application of urban solid wastes on soil and crop plants. The project has succeeded in providing several leads for further research.
Prof.K.jeevan rao has successfully completed another ICAR -NATP –CGP-project on "Bioconversion of Urban Wastes and Agricultural Wastes" with a budget of Rs. 16.4 lakhs for a period of 3 years (2001-2004) .The studies revealed that management of urban wastes and agricultural wastes through composting technology is an environmentally friendly and cost effective way to transform high volume heterogeneous byproducts into a product having economic value. Compost enrichment with beneficial microorganisms and mineral additives such as rock phosphate and other additives helped in improving the agronomic value of the compost. Dr.Rao is responsible for developing a soil and water pollution and organic waste recycling laboratory in the university for the first time. Recently he has been sanctioned ITC-Paper Boards funded Project on “EIA of Pulp & Paper Mill Effluents for irrigation “for 5 years (2005-2010) with a cost of Rs 10.50 lakhs. So far the studies have revealed the characteristics of paper mill effluents and the long term impact on soil and water resources characteristics and crop growth and extended up to 2015 with Rs.16lakhs budget.
Eminent scientists and technocrats who are concerned about environmental degradation and ICAR have appreciated Prof.K.Jeevan rao’s research work. He submitted a proposal to the ANGRAU to start Environmental Sciences PG programme in 1997 and the department was started in 2003. As a researcher Dr. Rao has contributed substantially in the field of bio-chemical analysis and nutrition of fruit crops, Agro forestry, Energy plantation; and use of radioisotopes in agriculture also. He taught 7 UG courses and 6 PG courses and guided 11 and on hand 6 PG students in the field of soil and water pollution due to Industrial effluents, sewage farming and recycling of organic wastes in agriculture etc.

Prof.K.Jeevan rao was involved in successful organization of 93rd Indian Science Congress from 3-7th January, 2006 at ANGRAU, Hyderabad, which is appreciated by one and all. Dr.Rao's future line of research includes soil and water pollution with special reference to heavy metal speciation, mobility, bioavailability, etc. food chain aspects of heavy metals, pollution indicators, environmental impact assessment and reclamation of contaminated soils, water pollution and organic waste recycling in agriculture and he is very much concerned with Agricultural Education and Management.
