My name is Kirsty Galloway McLean. I am biological scientist by training, with specialization in medical science, molecular biology and biosafety assessments. I also have a bachelor's degree in cognitive sciences, cross-cultural communication and linguistics and a diploma of journalism.

I am currently the managing director of the consulting company BioChimera, and hold a post at the United Nations University Institute of Advanced Studies, where I am working on biodiplomacy and traditional knowledge. Prior to this I worked for the United Nations Environment Programme's Convention on Biological Diversity, the Centre for the Mind at Sydney University and the Australian Government.
