Part 3: Adding Content
[edit]Link to Government of India: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Government_of_India
Strengths of the article: I felt that the article was mostly unbiased in its presentation about facts about the Indian government. Also, as I read through the comments made about the article, I saw a section that talked about bias in the reform and corruption section. It seems that this bias has been edited and corrected to provide a more neutral viewpoint, which is a strength of the article.
Weaknesses of the article: The article didn't expand very much on all the subtopics within the article. Furthermore, there are some statements which include numbers which are not cited.
Naming India Notes:
- The names for India have a long and complex history
- Sanskrit word Sindhu meaning "the sea" and the Indus river
- Greeks and Romans started using the word India
- British maps favored using India
I added a new section named Naming becasue I looked through the Talk section of the article and saw that someone had made an old comment mentioning that there maybe should be a section about that. Then, to compare, I looked up the article about the United States government and saw that that article had a section about naming. Since it seemed to be a common theme for other pages about governments of countries I decided to add that section. I researched about the entomology of the names for India and took some short notes above so that I would avoid plagiarizing and would use my own words when I wrote the section.
Largest Democracy Notes:
- 1,267 million inhabitants and 834 million who can vote as of 2014
I added this line into the voting section because it is important to know that this is the largest democracy in the world, especially since this is relevant to voting.
- Line added: "India is currently the largest democracy in the world, with around 834 million eligible voters, as of 2014."
