Basic draft based on discussion here.
ITN blurbs for recent deaths are warranted (still up for debate pending merits) when:
- It's the Queen.
- The subject is a sitting head of state or government.
- The subject is the head of a religion.
- The death itself has its own article.
- The Queen
- It's the Queen.
- Do other senior royals get a blurb?
- World leaders
- All the Commonwealth PMs get a say, despite their nations' head still being the Queen.
- Past leaders may be considered depending on their impact and influence.
- Religious leaders
- This basically means the current Pope.
- The Queen is also the head of the Protestant Church, but she's getting a blurb anyway.
- As with world leaders, past Popes may be considered.
- Notable death
- This requires the subject to have a biography and a "Death of..." article.
- The person will be independently famous and have a notable death (e.g. Kobe)
- Where the recent death is otherwise non-notable, but their death is in the news, this is considered as a normal blurb nomination.
- Numerical cut-offs
- Debated for country population when it comes to world leaders
- Currently unpopular for valuing impact in terms of number of awards
