This page offers hints and tips on how you can help to improve Wikipedia coverage of football.
Finding reliable sources
[edit]One of the most important tasks is to find Reliable sources for use as references on football related articles. There are several reasons for this, making the encyclopedia more Verifiable and providing useful links to help other editors to keep the articles up to date.
There is a list of useful websites here, there is some general advice on external links here, and some detail on how to add external links here.
Improving existing articles
[edit]- Wikipedia has tons of articles on world famous players, important clubs, stadiums and tournaments that are nothing more than stubs. You can help by expanding them.
- You can browse categories looking for articles without infoboxes and add one.
- Lots of articles are missing important information, such as international players that make no mention of their club career, club payers that make no mention of their international career.
- Lots of team and player articles are missing information on the championships they have won.
- Lots of player articles are missing information on the date and place of birth. You can search for this information, if you simply cant find it, you can add Category:Date of birth misiing or Category:Place of birth missing to the article talk page.
