New article name is Colonel Lettie Bien Freedom Award
As a result of her military service, an award was given to COL Bien and subsequently, it was decided that the award should now be given annually to a Miami resident who has served our country in the military and returned to serve our community. It is given during Dade Days in Tallahassee.
This year, the Colonel Lettie Bien Freedom Award will be given to Anthony Atwood, founder of the Miami Military Museum, whose campus is under construction in South Miami-Dade. Previous recipients include Andrew Carricarte and Mayor Don Slesnick.
