Huntington County Economic Development
Located in Huntington, Indiana, Tthe Huntington County United Economic Development Corporation was founded in 1997 and is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as an approved tax exempt organization under IRS Code Section 501 (c) (3). Now doing business as Huntington County Economic Development, the organization functions to make Huntington County, Indiana a better place to live and work by supporting and growing existing business and by attracting new business investment and higher paying jobs to Huntington County.
The Huntington County Economic Development Corporation has a highly trained staff that are knowledgeable about local and state business incentives. The Huntington County Economic Development Corporation works with the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership to attract new businesses and create a unified regional strategy for economic development. Huntington County Economic Development recieved a 2010 Area Development Silver Shovel Award for excellence.
Huntington County Economic Development has identified seven core industries in Huntington County: agriculture, automotive parts, food production, logistics/warehousing/distribution, metal/steel fabrication, mineral aggregates, and petroleum refining and distribution. Since March of 2008, they have completed 23 successful projects resulting in 1,100 jobs and total investments exceeding $95 million. In 2009 Huntington County Economic Development announced Indiana's sixth largest economic development project in Onward Manufacturing. Barbeque grill maker, Onward committed to creating over 300 jobs in their 400,000-square-foot plant.
