Four days prior to the NPSL season opener, Cleveland scheduled a friendly against Northern Ohio Soccer League (NOSL) club Ambassadors FC Ohio, an under-23 affiliate of Women's Premier Soccer League club Cleveland Ambassadors and fellow NOSL team Ambassadors FC.[ 2] The game marked the Guardians' debut, and eventually only, match at Sparky DiBiasio Stadium .
Cleveland SC v Ambassadors FC Ohio
The schedule for the Rust Belt Conference was released by the league and the respective clubs on March 16, 2021. No teams were added to or departed the conference, meaning that CSC was to play a ten-match schedule for the third straight league season.[ 3] At the time of the announcement, the Guardians had yet to confirm the club's home stadium for the season. Before the 2020 season was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States , Cleveland had announced Lakewood Stadium and Krenzler Field as the club's dual homes.[ 4] Following the schedule release, Cleveland began selling tickets for home matches on the club website; Sparky DiBiasio Stadium in Euclid, Ohio was listed as the location.[ 5] A friendly match against Ambassadors FC Ohio was played there on May 12, and as of the beginning of the NPSL regular season it still appeared as though the Sparky DiBiasio would be Cleveland's home in 2021.[ 6] On May 25, just five days before the club's home opener, Cleveland announced that George Finnie Stadium in Berea, Ohio was the club's stadium for the season. Cleveland previously played at the George Finnie in 2019 .[ 7]

NPSL Rules for classification: 1) points; 2) head-to-head; 3) goal differential in head-to-head results; 4) wins; 5) total goal differential; 6) fewest losses; 7) coin toss. If three or more teams are tied on points, a mini-table involving only the tied teams is used, and teams are ranked in the mini-table on points. If two teams are tied on points in the mini-table, the two-team rules for classification apply. If three or more teams are tied on points in the mini-table, they are ranked based on 1) wins in conference competition; 2) total goal differential in conference competition; 3) fewest losses in conference competition; 4) coin toss.
