Ken Mai was born in Nara, Japan.

Ken Mai is a Japanese International Butoh Artist, Choreographer, and Teacher. He has studies with legend Butoh founder Kazuo Ohno in Japan in 90s.

He has been performing, teaching, and collaborating more than 28 countries officially with various artists throughout Europe, in the US, Russia, Latin America, India, and Japan since beginning of the '90s.

His art is based on Butoh and also combines his background with Gymnastics, Martial arts, Modern dance, Ballet, Laban method, Singing, Zen, and Yoga philosophy. He expresses profoundly the life, death of nature being, and love through the foundation of darkness.
