This is a list of distant landmarks that can be seen from the water front in the town of Qualicum Beach in the Canadian province of British Columbia. The index photograph is taken along the old Island Highway at the end of Bay Street at the waterfront of the Strait of Georgia. 49°21′14.6″N 124°27′11.4″W / 49.354056°N 124.453167°W
Identification
[edit]Landmarks are indexed by compass bearings corrected to true. Using a magnetic compass[1], an adjustment must be made for variation[2]. As of July 2008, the correct adjustment for this location is 18° 5' East[3]. The bearing read on a compass must be increased by 18° to convert to a true bearing as used in the table. Subtract 18° from the bearings shown in the table to find the locations by compass bearing. Note that the bearings are only accurate for the position from which they were taken.
