Kemi Bakare "kemistree" is an experienced young performance poet who had assumed the position of a performance director for AJ HOUSE OF POETRY ( A poetry performance organization based in Lagos Nigeria AJEGUNLE) She is one of the coaches for the Living for Christ Foundation. kemistreee demonstrates the vastness of resources and utility as a spoken word poet, her themes and performances compel attention from all, she is normally refers to as the lady that spits fire in the poetry industry. Kemistree emerged as the overall winner of WORD SLAM V organized by GOETHE INSTITUT LAGOS 2011. She reviewed a shortlisted children's literature for the LNG award 2011 and won the LOUDTHOZ best poet for May in 2013. Kemi has been shortlisted in various poetry competitions including the NIGERIA / ZIMBABWE POETRY EXCHANGE 2012 and her poem "Mute The Songs of Excuses " was published in the Black Communion Poetry Anthology 2013. She has performed in various events such as the Lagos Black Heritage Festival 2014, Word up, Coterie, Picturez Magazine Launch 2013, Wole Soyinka, and @80 poetry tour 2014 in Nigeria Just to mention a few. kemistreee has been featured by various poets and rappers and was ranked 4th best-spoken word artiste, 11th poet that rocked Nigeria in 2014. Kemi bakare emerged as the overall winner of the Eko Poetry Slam 2014 organized by the Eko Literary Society and MeroFM 97.7. She is the first guest poet in Nigeria to perform for the 3rd Annual Celebration of the Unseen Awards alongside Lagos state Governor, S.A.N Babatunde Raji Fashola. She performed as a guest post for the Eriatar oribhabor food poetry competition award unveiling. This young poet was featured in a video alongside another great poet who calls for a peaceful election in Nigeria for 2015 as well as the "Stop the violence." video with the word crew. She won the Abuja literary slam 2015, POET OF THE YEAR, Olabisi Onabanjo University 2016, the poetry court young writers award 2016, Kemi was awarded the most eloquent female student in Olabisi Onabanjo university 2017 the (Student Union Awards) She bagged the award for the best-spoken poet in Nigeria in 2017, Spoken word art and poetry award (SWAAP), kemistree was one of the judges for the sound of sages poetry slam 2017, She also featured as a guest post for the more life concert Portharcourt 2019, Hymn and Jazz festival 2020. Kemi inspires young folks in ghettos with her motivational talks and enlightens the mind of all with her thought-provoking poems.
