Dave Clark is a business executive who served as CEO of worldwide consumer business at Amazon (company).

[edit]Clark was introduced to Amazon when an executive visited the University of Tennessee and met with students. Clark impressed the executive and was hired after completing his MBA.[2]
Clark began working at Amazon in 1999 when the company was five years old. His first position was in the operations department. During his 23 years with Amazon, he also served as Senior Vice President of worldwide operations, Vice President of Worldwide operations, Vice President of global customer fulfillment, and Vice President of North American operations. In 2021 he was promoted to CEO of worldwide consumer business.[3]
At Amazon, Clark oversaw more than one million employees in 1,000 locations.[4] He facilitated Amazon’s acquisition of Kiva Systems, a robotic fulfillment system, and assisted in the creation of Amazon’s air delivery network.[2]
Clark has been credited with building Amazon’s expanding logistics network. Under his leadership, hundreds of new warehouses logistics facilities, and sorting centers were opened during the COVID-19 pandemic, enabling the company to deliver more packages than both FedEx and UPS.[5]
In 2022, Clark left Amazon and joined Flexport, a supply chain management and logistics company, serving as co-CEO and then CEO.[6] Under his leadership, Flexport acquired the e-commerce fulfillment company Deliverr from Canadian e-commerce company Shopify. Clark resigned from Flexport in 2023,[7] when the company decided to shift its focus to the core freight business. The media has speculated that Clark is planning to run for office in Texas.[8]
