Article Evaluation
[edit]I choose to review the article, King Canute and the Tide, from Wikipedia's collection of C-Class articles.
Evaluating Content
[edit]- The section titled, 'Proverbial reference' seemed strange and not quite in place. The section attempts to provide a historical continuity for connection from the story to modern, 'Proverbial references'. Perhaps a better organization for this section would be 'Modern Usage'. In general the phrase, to stem the tide, or stop the tide ect, has become so pervasive in the English langauge it seems absurd to point out specifc usages, like the section in the article attempts to.
- The article is an intersting one, but is in need of some direction and trimming down.
Evaluating Tone
[edit]- The article has a fairly scholarly tone, the author perhaps at time lost in his own study, not providing full context to the reader of the event.
- The author's opening section 'The Episode' ambles a bit and needs to be more concise, this event seems fairly succinct.
Evaluating sources
[edit]- The first source the article lists is a latin sentence, but seems to be a poor reference. The reference should be the text he's referring to, not as it seems to be, a single line from the larger work. An incomplete citation?
- The remainder of the sources seem to be varied and well sourced.
