Kaleigh Acord is a violinist, violist, and teacher living in the Boston area. She is currently pursuing a Masters of Music degree at Longy School of Music, where she formerly earned an Undergraduate Diploma. At Longy, she has received both the Margaret Rohde Award for Excellence in Solfege and Theoretical Studies, and the Roman Totenberg Award for Highest Academic and Artistic Achievement. She has performed internationally in such cities as Berlin, Prague, and Warsaw, and made her radio debut on WQXR’s McGraw Hill Financial Young Artist Showcase in March 2014 playing Schoenfield’s Souvenirs for Violin and Piano. An avid chamber musician, Kaleigh has spent her summers attending Bowdoin International Music Festival, Kent/Blossom Music, the Garth Newel Chamber Music Fellowship Program, Lyricafest, Charles Castleman’s Quartet Program, Chamber Music in Grantham, and the Portland String Quartet Workshop. Her notable chamber music coaches include William Preucil, Terry King and Robert Merfeld, as well as members of the Pacifica and Escher Quartets and the Mendelssohn Piano Trio. She has appeared in chamber music performances with the Hausmann Quartet, Roger Tapping, and Tchaikovsky International Gold Medalist Sergey Antonov.

Kaleigh currently teaches violin privately and at Seed Music Center in Quincy, MA. As a teacher, she focuses on helping her students actively develop their tactile, kinesthetic, and spatial memories of playing their instruments. She believes that, in close conjunction with aural awareness, a discerning physical awareness will eventually help students to self-diagnose problems and become their own best teachers. Kaleigh has been teaching assistant to her own esteemed instructor, Laura Bossert, since 2012. She has also been on the Young Artist Faculty of Lyricafest Chamber Music Festival in Lincoln, MA; held a Teaching Fellowship position at the New England Chamber Music Festival in Montpelier, Vermont; and participated as a teaching assistant in Bridge Boston Charter School’s El Sistema-modeled Violin Program in Dorchester, MA.
