Bio
[edit]About Me
[edit]I am a motivated calligrapher or lettering artist that lives in the Pacific Northwest. I also run cross country and like to rock climb and go on adventures. I like to read fiction books for fun when I’m not busy doing anything else[1].
My Wikipedia Activities
[edit]After hearing about being able to use and edit Wikipedia, I decided to make an account. My plan is to update and write more articles about hand-lettering and different types of fonts that you can create. I plan on creating more resources that people can go to if they are looking into starting hand-lettering or calligraphy[2]. It will be a place to see what calligraphy is and show different fonts and examples that describe it more in depth.
Article Evaluation
[edit]I have been interested in researching hikes that I have completed including Squire Creek Pass and Boulder River Falls. I was unable to find Wikipedia articles on any of those hikes separately, but I did find a page on the boulder river wilderness. I visited the Boulder River Wilderness article on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: its lack of citations relating to the hikes within the Boulder River Wilderness, its lack of links to other Wikipedia articles, and a lack of information regarding how to get to the the Boulder River Wilderness and its location in relation to nearby towns.
Citations
[edit]There are some citations on the page, but none relating to the trails and hikes itself. The article doesn’t give evidence for the amount of trails, the elevation, or anything related to the hardness of the different trails in the Boulder River Wilderness.[3] It could use more reliable sources that are actually a help, instead of putting useless sources in or sources that are no longer available to view.
Other Wikipedia Sources
[edit]There is also a lack of sources from other Wikipedia articles explaining these hikes. There is one source on the page that is in the hiking section but only explains about the old growth forest but doesn’t show examples of how that relates to the trails or the topic being presented.
Locations
[edit]I noticed that this article doesn’t explain where the Boulder River Wilderness is relating to other towns and it doesn’t explain how to get to the trails. It states that there are four trails and 25 total trail miles in the Boulder River Wilderness but it doesn’t have sources for how to get to the trails from the main road. I feel like if you are trying to find information about the hikes, the article you are looking at should explain where the locations to the hikes are in relation to the small towns nearby.
Summary
[edit]In conclusion, I would say this page is not filled with much useful information but gives you the bare minimum information. There are lots of places in this article where more information and details could be added to further explain the hikes and help people find what they are looking for. This would include explaining what the conditions are like for the hikes, the difficulty levels of the hikes, and the locations of the hikes.[4] I think that if more sources and useful information was added, this article would be a very useful place for people to come when looking for hikes in the Darrington area.
