Durga Puja in Badla Podder Bari has been around for 419 years (1603 – 2021). Every year, this puja starts from “Mahalaya”, to continue ten (10) days.
Following the traditional practice of puja, every puja pandel, including The Jamindaar’s House in Badla village, was used to exchange skills after “Sandhi Puja”.
And after the hindu marriage, the bride and groom have the custom of giving a “Kanakaanjali” before going to the house of father-in-law, just as on the tenth day (Dashami), the members of Badla Podder Bari have this custom in those own house.
However, there is no sacrificial system (Balidaan) of worship in Badla Podder Bari. Here the goddess is worshiped as a daughter. In Badla Podder Bari, Durga Idol is also special in the worship. The goddess here is not a “Dashavujaa” (Ten Hands). The goddess is sitting here in the Lap of her husband, Devadidev Shiva. There is no “Mahishashur”. The goddess has four children Ganesh, Laxmi, Saraswati and Karttik and two Sakhis (Friends), Jaya & Vijaya.
