About Me

[edit]

I am currently a Running Start [1]student, meaning I am both enrolled in high school and college classes. I'm planning to graduate high school with my associates, as I am currently still a Junior. I enjoy music, cooking, playing guitar, and going to concerts. My favorite concerts I've been to are Billie Eilish, Reneé Rapp, Lizzy Mcalpine, and Cigarettes After Sex. I still have one more concert at the end of this year and one early next year. I am going to see Billie Eilish for the third time in December and Role Model for the second time in April.

My Wikipedia Interests

[edit]

If I ended up working on content on Wiki in the long run, I would most likely end up contributing to pages involving some sort of pop culture. I love being caught up on the latest celebrity media, and what's going on in the music world.

Article Evaluation

[edit]

Thesis

[edit]

I've always been interested in knowing different art styles from various artists, when I found out that my parents were friends with a painter I wanted to see if he had a wikipedia page! I visited the article on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting  on:  it is lacking information, many links are out dated, links are still active!

Information

[edit]

When looking up a Wikipedia page for a painter you'd expect to see a section for their past or well known projects. Meanwhile this Wikipedia page only talks about his career and education. The only project directly referenced in the article is Max Hayslette’s self portrait from 2019. I know much of his art is on display on the Carrie Goller Gallery website but I do not see it listed on the page.

[edit]

There are few external links from the Max Hayslette article. Many are out dated with the most recent link being updated in 2019 which was over five years ago. Even then the links aren't touched on in any of the information written in the article. They are really just left for the user to find on their own. The external links are more to do with Hayslette’s art instead of his early career and education which seems to be the main focus in this article.

[edit]

The links listed on the article are outdated yet still active. They're a good resource to find reliable information because they are from credible sources such as West Virginia University which holds showings on Max Hayslette’s art, Hayslette’s official art websites, and a video interview with Max himself. Another link listed allows users to look through Max’s art collection through out the years. But again, it is not given attention to in the article, and left at the bottom of the website for someone to discover on their own.

Conclusion

[edit]

Overall, I wouldn't say the page is horrible. The page has some valuable information but some of links/resources they used aren't given attention too in the article, so the reader wont gain knowledge from them being linked to the page. I think if the page had added more information and had given their external links more attention it would've been a better article.
