Anne Blair Brown, American, Plein-air Painter, born in Rhode Island who currently resides in Nashville, TN. A former chef, Anne has a passion for cafes, restaurants and city life. Whether it is waiters tending to patrons, bartenders cleaning after a busy shift or people just walking the street, her work reflects her observations of the people and places she visits. Anne’s art documents moments that others might have not noticed, her work draws viewers into the scene and transports them to another place and time.
A graduate of the University of Georgia and Watkins College of Art & Design, Brown became a professional artist after years of working as a chef. During her cooking career she began to realize that she needed another creative outlet and returned to her favorite pastime, painting. It took courage and the encouragement of her husband to leave a successful career as a chef and make the change to working full time artist.
Anne Blair Brown is an active member of the Chestnut Group, a nonprofit group of artists dedicated to preserving endangered ecosystems, historic locales, and aesthetically and environmentally significant places. She enjoys painting outdoors, en plein-air and also paints in her studio from photographs she takes at the places she has visited. Anne is a member of OPA, The Oil Painters of America. Anne Blair Brown also teaches workshops in plein-air.
