Hi! I'm Katie and am new to editing Wikipedia. I am currently a freshman at Cornell University, and I plan to major in Psychology and minor in Nutritional Sciences. I am interested in all sorts of Wikipedia articles, a lot of which tend to be about demographics of different areas for some reason. I have always been interested in research related to diabetes and oxidative stress, which is why I was excited when I learned about ginger's antioxidative and anti-inflammatory qualities (the article I plan on editing this semester is Ginger). I think editing Wikipedia will be a great experience because it will give me a chance to explore my research question, "Do ginger’s antioxidative and anti-inflammatory qualities have any implications for treating cardiovascular disease or diabetes?", and share what I find with the public instead of keeping everything to myself. One of the reasons why I love Wikipedia is that 99% of the time it's able to answer any question I have, which means that lots of other people must have shared those questions in the first place. Therefore, I'm hoping that I'll be able to help steer other people who have a similar question to mine in a useful direction and give back to this community. I hope to strengthen my unbiased writing skills, gain more familiarity with finding and citing scholarly articles, and learn to use these articles to formulate coherent descriptions of the scientific world's progress in terms of specific areas of research.
