Islo-Chamic languages

[edit]

Islo-Chamic languages are one of the most linguistically diverse language families in the world, with over 750 living languages and dialects spread across the continent Ieslia (Yisla) and Chamia (Khamiya). Islo-Chamic languages are strongly associated with avian society, trade and commerce. Some of the most commonly spoken IC languages include Ayagisan, Bagatiyo, Hrümas, Kalamese, Vokchot, Narachon and Zibal. The Ohóch language (Ohóchin), spoken by the phoenix people on the continent of Tavania, forms its own branch in the family tree, and is associated with royal power. The most prominent feature of IC languages are its extensive consonant inventories, pharyngeal consonants and extensive case system.

Proto-Islo-Chamic

[edit]

Proto-Islo-Chamic is dated to 2200 PV during the K'mnoti culture. The culture developed into the first Empire of Gozm to which the language Ancient Isliya came about. Around 1900 PV, the Ohóch civilisation of the Phoenix peoples conquered and destroyed Gozm, leading to its downfall. From 1900-1600 AV, famine and draught forced many Avians to migrate across different parts of the world, with two major branches appearing: Islic languages and Chamic languages (or Khamic languages).
