Susan Forsburg is an American microbiologist, researcher, author, and professor at the University of Southern California. Her work primarily focuses on how chromosome duplication and maintenance affect genome stability, using the fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe as a model. [1]
Education
[edit]Forsburg attended college at the University of California, Berkeley, earning her bachelor’s degree in both English and Molecular Biology, along with a Ph.D. in Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. [1]
Career
[edit]With a distinguished professional career, Professor Forsburg first worked as an Adjunct Associate Professor and Assistant Professor at the University of California, San Diego, from 1997 to 2004. From 2000-2004 she also worked at The Salk Institute for Biological Studies as an Associate Professor.[1] From 2004-2006 she held the position of Associate Professor at USC. Currently since 2006 she has held a position as a faculty member at the University of Southern California. All of these positions have helped her contribute significantly to the fields of molecular biology.[2]
