About Me

[edit]

My name is Kaelyn and some of my interests include paddleboarding, hiking, and playing with my golden retriever puppy. It is said that having a dog can lower your risk for mental and physical diseases.[1] I for one know this to be true as having a dog during the corona virus quarantine increased my happiness and help my family and I get outside and stay healthy. I also love spending time cooking and baking crazy or extravagant things with my friends and family.

My Wikipedia Interests

[edit]

My hopes for being on Wikipedia is that one day I will add a valuable piece of information that will help/impact another person. Whether it be a small piece of information that could help them write a research paper or something much larger that could help somebody solve an important question.

Article Evaluation

[edit]

I have always loved being able to pick fresh fruit right from the source. I love knowing that I took the time to pick each fruit and enjoy the fresh taste that you don’t get from the store produced fruits that are filled with chemicals. I went to look this up on Wikipedia as if I was doing research on it and was disappointed with the results. I visited the fruit picking article on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: poor grammar, lack of citations, and age of information.

Poor Grammar

[edit]

The very first thing that I noticed when reading through this article for the first time was the poor grammar. There weren't too many examples of bad grammar found in the article but there were a few, and they really stuck out. The information that they wrote seemed to be rushed which probably is what caused the poor grammar throughout. It would have been valuable for the person who wrote this article to go back through and read out loud what they had written. This would have solved many of the grammar errors found in the text.

Lack of Citations

[edit]

Another thing that I found worthy of commenting on is the lack of citations. This article had many statements but no citations proving them. This causes confusion for the reader as they are unaware whether that statement is a fact or merely an opinion.

Age of Information

[edit]

Lastly, I would like to comment on the age of the information included in this piece. There were a few facts that had reliable sources at one point, but now they are outdated. Some of the facts were out of date, and others had actual websites that were linked. But many of those websites that were linked, were out of date or no longer existed.

Summary

[edit]

Overall I would say that this article is not very good and should not be used for well proven research. There are many aspects of this article that could be improved such as the “Automation” section that is outdated, contains poor grammar, and needs citations. The article overall does give an okay description of what fruit picking is but the other topics that are written, such as the “Automation” or “Types of Fruit”, are very out of date, lacking citations, and contain poor grammar.
