KLEW chart is an assessment tool which deals with measuring the student's knowledge and understanding of a particular concept. It is used to measure how much knowledge a child has regarding a particular topic, what are the things he need to learn, and the questions the child has while learning a new topic. It caters to the needs of the student's intellectual and inquisitive level.


Purpose of the KLEW Chart

The KLEW chart is an adaptation of the KWL chart where'k'stands for what I KNOW, 'W'stands for what I WANT to know, and 'L'stands for what I LEARNED. KLEW stands for: K- what do we think we KNOW L- what we LEARN E- what is our EVIDENCE W- what are we WONDERING The KLEW chart emphasizes on, the curiosity of the child when he learns new things. The child will have many doubts regarding a new concept presented to him which,if not solved, makes the learning incomplete. So, the teachers (a third- grade teacher, a university professor, and a professional development specialist) developed a new method wherein "inquiry" was considered important.
