About Me

Hello! I am a College student from the Pacific Northwest. I am the second oldest of four children, so I’d consider myself pretty family loving and oriented. I would like to call myself a musician; as I play the alto saxophone, the violin, and the piano. I am part of a choir and a band, and I enjoy singing, playing, or listening to just about any kind of music. Music can reduce anxiety, blood pressure, and pain as well as improve sleep quality, mood, mental alertness, and memory.[1] I also take joy in athleticism as I play for a volleyball team and I just simply enjoy anything having to do with being active. I love the rain and quiet environments where I can get some studying done.

My Wikipedia Activities

Although I am fairly new to the world of Wikipedia, I look forward to being more involved and impactful. I would be interested in making minor changes to pages, like fixing small grammatical and spelling errors. I am also looking forward to using Wikipedia as a resourceful tool in my day-to-day life and allowing insight on specific things I am interested in.

Article Evaluation

[edit]

One of my favorite places to visit in California is San Francisco. Since I like to go there, I decided to do some research about something from California. That is when I came across the article about the “Painted Ladies”[2]. I visited the Painted Ladies article on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: is the article up-to-date?, are any of the links dead? , and are there irrelevant sections or sentences?.

This article was last edited on June 8th of 2020. Many of the references are a bit dated, from the late 1900s, but one of them is from 2010. Although the references are from a while ago, I still think that the article is up to date because nothing has changed about the Painted Ladies. They still stand there the same way they did years ago.

I also looked into the links in the article to see if they work. After trying about half of the links I noticed that they all took me to other articles throughout Wikipedia. The links do work and lead to reliable articles.

One more thing I looked into was if there are any irrelevant sections or sentences in the article. What I found was that everything the article says about the Painted Ladies is relevant and what should be included in the article. However, there is a section at the bottom of the article that talks about other San Francisco attractions and I think that they should have left this part of the article out.

Overall, the Painted Ladies article is clear and reliable with solid information regarding the homes. I think that this Wikipedia article is a satisfactory choice to look over and read if you want to acquire some more information about the Painted ladies or even some other places in San Francisco
