About Me

[edit]

I am someone who loves to watch movies. They are my life. I love animals and nature as well. I also love to write and to be able to create stories in my own words. I'm from the south so I enjoy the heat and can get cold fast. I am a Major Disney/Marvel fanatic so I'll for sure be visiting articles about those subjects. I'm someone who needs to be around people and loves to be social but I also really don't like people and have anxiety being around them too. I am also a traveler and one of the places on my bucket list I want to make sure I go to is Paris. Paris has become sort of the center of France[1], and while I will love to visit all of France, Paris is the priority, in a sense my goal.

My Wikipedia Interests

Growing up we were told in English classes to stay away from Wikipedia. It wasn't reliable because anyone can change what was on the site. Now learning more about the site myself, I am excited to be able to edit articles and read known info. I also now feel confident in the ability to see if this "info" is true. In the long run, something I might try is creating or shall I say starting articles. To have that input in what people find for knowledge is cool to me and we can all argue about whether or not it's true in a fun chilled-out environment. My interest in said information would include; film, cinemas, Pixar, Disney, Marvel, and more. Any of those subjects is how I would choose to focus my time on Wikipedia starting.

Article Evaluation

[edit]

I recently saw the movie “Fire in the Sky,” which is based on an alleged alien abduction in the year 1975 which sparked my interest in how true the story was. I visited the “Travis Walton UFO incident” article on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: The article is adequately written and uses mostly formal language, despite having happened over 40 years ago the article is up to date and is continuously being updated, and many experts have given their expertise to this incident which has led to the sharing of the same views and ideas about the event.

The article grammatically is structured well, however it could have been written differently. The transitions could have been more fluid and connected more to the next idea. As for the use of formal language, the article is nicely put together.

This incident happened over 40 years ago and even though this article isn’t that big, in terms of both how much is written and its popularity, it’s still interesting how people come in and update it. Last time it was updated was September 25, 2022.

Skepticism is a common theme in the “Travis Walton UFO incident”. Almost all the experts and others involved came to the conclusion of doubt and deception on both the incident and Walton’s character. The multiple experts mentioned in the article have their statements written many times instead of being concise. This messes with the structure of the paragraphs and throws off the fluidity of the connecting ideas.

The elements of this article; the grammar/language, the updates, and the representation are well thought out. The article itself is well written for the most part and I appreciate the fact that it is interesting enough for people to come back to and update it. However, the article could have been summed up overall and had the ideas more connected, especially when it came to skepticism which was almost over mentioned.
