- BIBLIOGRAPHY - A SKETCH PAGE
Here I make an attempt to list the references I used on Wikipedia Pages in a fixed list, which can be directly referred to from the relative pages. The reason is that many pages contain the same references, over and over again, with comments and linls to web pages and url's that sometimes work and sometimes not. In this way, creating a reference list common to a certain group of pages, the bibliography can be easily updated and discussed. What ever time an edit is performed in this list, numerous pages would benefit from it.
See an interesting list [[1]]
The list is alphabetic.
Each reference is a Section of this Sub Page, in order to be able to refer to it directly from whatever Page
Each section regards one Scientific Paper / Book / Other and is made up of the following:
- 1. Text string with the classical reference string as used in scientific papers
- -Strings to use on pages:
- 2. The reference string for a Foot Note Reference in Wikipedia (unique ref name=Identical to the Section Name): "
<ref name = ...> ...
"
- 3. The reference string as a Citation Code, for a Footnote Reference in Wikipedia, including the (unique) Harvard Name ID: "
{{Citation | ..... }}
"
- 4. The Harvard Citation separately
- -If any available:
- 5. ISBN Code
- 6. OID Code
- 7. Reference to Google Books
- 8. Reference to an url of the possible Editor / Abstract Page
- 9. Reference to an url where pdf can be downloaded
- -And any other url that can be inserted
- 10. Comments that can be placed by anyone; on the contents of the paper preferably
- Reference examples and templates
(example) To link from a Wikipedia Page to one of these references, type:
van Dijk (1992d)[[2]]
Or like this:
Link to an article directly:
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2006
Link to an article directly but using a hyperlinked Title:
{{cite web |title='National Geographic: News' | url= http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2006}}
Three different types of Harvard Citation codes used (One, two or more than 2 authors) (Automatically generated from LIB):
Harvard Citation: {{Harv|Università degli Studi di Siena - Comune di Campiglia Marittima|1996}}
Harvard Citation: {{Harv|Zimnermann|Briotet|1958, Int. Rept.}}
Harvard Citation: {{Harv|Abate|A|B|C|1982}} <ref>{{Harvnb|Abate|A|B|C|1982}}</ref>
- How to do it, I would propose
In the text, for example, Meissner (2002) is referred, which is a text book, so a page is required where this and that is said:
({{Harv|Meissner|2002}}<ref name='Meissner_2002-p100'> See {{Harv|Meissner|2002}}, p. 100 where he speaks of this and that'</ref>)
*)
OR:
({{Harv|Meissner|2002}}{{sfn|Meissner|2002}}
**)
The result is shown as follows with two links: one to the reference Meissner 2002 directly, and another to footnote 7:
(Meissner 2002)[7]
So, this has now become a footnote reference, in which a Harvard reference is inglobated to Meissner (2002) and appears as follows, with a reference on Meissner 2002:
^ 'See (Meissner 2002), p. 100 where he speaks of this and that'
So in the section "References" (not "Notes" or "Further reading"), the following is inserted:
{{Citation | author = Meissner | year = 2002 | title = The little book of Planet Earth. | journal = New York: Copernicus Books, New York, 202 pp. | ISBN = 978-0-387-95258-1. | ref = CITEREFMeissner2002 }}
- ) Note that this is the only way of nesting the page number inside the Harvard citation code, because you might think that for just a page reference the follwing could also work:
({{Harv|Meissner|2002}}, p. 100)
But in that case, the komma sign is outside the breakets as follows:
(Meissner 2002), p. 100
and that is not ok inside the text, whereas in a footnote (as suggested above), it can be accepted.
- ) Note that in this way the footnote reference tracks the amount of times that the work is cited in the text.
