Bio
[edit]About me
[edit]I'm a running start student who has lived in 3 different houses in Washington. My focus in school is on being an elementary school teacher because I like their vacation times, being around little kids, and the job stability[1]. My top three favorite subjects are math, history, and English. My main hobbies include watching/playing sports- volleyball and soccer, going to the beach, and going on hikes with my dog. It has been shown that people who hike build stronger balance, muscles, and bones, and also decrease the risk of developing some respiratory problems[2].
My Wikipedia interests
[edit]If I'm active on Wikipedia in the future, I'm definitely going to be looking at the women in our past and present who are and who have been making a change in our world. I love to read and watch documentaries about literally any important people and major events that have taken place and made a change in the world. It's important to try and learn the history of the world because it helps us understand different people, societies, identities, the ways of the world, and how we can plan for the future[3].
Article Evaluation
[edit]I find it interesting how humans eyelashes can fall off and grow back without it being noticeable. What also intrigues me is how there are enough eyelashes on someone's eye to protect it from debris and more. So, wanting to find out more details about eyelashes, I visited the Eyelash article on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: some facts aren't cited with reliable sources, some viewpoints are under-represented, and irrelevant sentences.
Reliable Sources
[edit]On this Wikipedia page about eyelashes, there were many links to sources that "cannot be found" or were deleted. Also, when I was looking at the sources listed at the bottom of the page, some didn't even have links to go to the source cited. These errors were disappointing because many of the sources pages sounded interesting to further read and learn about.
Under-represented Information
[edit]The cosmetics section covered a lot about how people are starting to use eyelash serums and conditioners. But, when listing the chemical ingredients in the serums and conditioners, it was failed to explain if they are healthy for the eyes or even work.
Irrelevant Sentences
[edit]After reading that other mammals all have eyelashes too, there were a few sentences about how certain breeds of dogs or horses can inherit eyelash problems. That sentence was irrelevant because there was no further explanation into why they can inherit eyelash problems, and the rest of the paragraph was about which animals shave eyelashes and which don't.
Summary
[edit]After reading this Wikipedia page about eyelash's, I would say it is an "okay" page to get information from. Many of the sources have links that have been deleted or don't have any at all which prevents from further reading about the topic, the sources are not credible, there is missing information about some topics, and sentences that were not needed to be included on the page.
