Car Cleaning and Detailing ...

While the two terms have been used as synonymous for long time, in reality their concept has different meaning for a professional detailer, an amateur/hobbyist or a potential costumer.

Car Cleaning; in fact, refers to the habit of washing, vacuuming and occasionally protect a vehicle with UV’s retardants for the exterior (tires, paint and trim) or interior (dashboard, side panels, center console and leather upholstery). Usually done by the owner of the vehicle. (David H jacobs Jr, Ultimate Auto Detailing Projects, 1st ed 2003, page #5).

Whereas; Car Detailing implies the process of washing, cleaning, polishing, protecting and maintaining a vehicle inside and out. (Don Tylor, Automotive Detailing; a complet car care guide for auto enthusiast and detailing professionals, 1st ed 1998, introduction, page V)

The difference strives merely in the chemicals used; off the shelf or professionally designed products
