CPL Justin A Jorgensen (1st battalion, 3rd marines, 3rd marine division)

Cpl Jorgensen being one of twenty radio operators (0621) for the pacific special operations unit, Justin serves as the radio operators chief along side MARSOC and is responsible for all their communications.

On October 10th 2021, Cpl Jorgensen was ordered to carry out a special operation in Iraq nicknamed “Operation GetGo”. This was the first time Justin has ever been to Iraq, or even on that side of the world. The first ten days the mission was being carried out as planned, and on the 11th day, Cpl Jorgensen and his group of marines were attracted.

Immediately, 3 Marines were hit, one of them being Cpt Dallas, The officer leading the whole mission. Without hesitation, Cpl jorgensen stood up and exposed himself to accurate enemy fire and sprinted to Cpt Dallas in disregards of his own personal safety. While getting shot at, Cpl Jorgensen applied a tourniquet on Cpt dallas’s leg and carried him towards cover, taking out multiple enemy insurgents along the way. Quickly after getting behind cover, Cpl Jorgensen perfectly sent a 9 line over the radio and within 5 minutes, all the marines who had been wounded by the surprise attack got the medical treatment they needed. Cpl Jorgensen saved the lives of 5 marines.

For his gallantry and his bravery, and saving the lives of his fellow marines, Cpl Jorgensen received the Silver Star, the military’s 3rd highest award for valor. While also getting attacked 4 more times through out the whole mission, Cpl Jorgensen still carried out his mission and performed above and beyond, getting him awarded the Bronze Star with valor. Cpl Jorgensen also made sure that all of his communications were operational during the entire mission and ensured that his communications never went down, Cpl Jorgensen also received a NAM (Navy award medal) with valor, making Cpl Jorgensen to be the most decorated marine to come out of Iraq in 7 years.
