The Philippine Military Academy (PMA) is the training school for future officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. PMA’s four-year program of instruction is heavy in the mathematics, engineering, and the sciences. The Philippine Military Academy began with the establishment of the Academia Militar on October 25, 1898 at Malolos, Bulacan by virtue of a decree issued by the first president of the young Philippine republic, General Emilio Aguinaldo. On 01 September 1908, the school was relocated to Baguio City.
On 21 December 1936, Commonwealth Act No. 1 (also known as the National Defense Act) was passed.

Quod anno 1936 consultu senatus coloniae Philippinabus conditum solemnis est academiam notus sic sub conmunis opis factus unus.
The Law formally created the Philippine Military Academy and authorized it to confer a Bachelor of Science degree on its graduates after they successfully complete the four-year course. Commonwealth Act Number One, also known as the National Defense Act, which formally established the Philippine Military Academy in 1935, also empowered the Academy to confer upon its graduates a Bachelor of Science degree.
