My name is Jonathan Kaplan. I have a Ph.D. in anthropology (Yale, 1999). I am the author (co-editor, with Michael Love) of "The Southern Maya in the Late Preclassic: the Rise and Fall of an Early Mesoamerican Civilization." I am also the main writer for three Wikipedia entries: the Southern Maya Area, Chocola, and Kaminaljuyu. My expertise is the Southern Maya Area (or Zone, or Region), Kaminaljuyu, and Chocola, where I have directed a research project for several years excavating a large ancient Maya city. I am contracted to deliver a manuscript for a book on the research at Chocola to the University Press of Florida. I have published several papers in refereed journals on Kaminaljuyu and Chocola, and I have given more than thirty papers or presentations at academic symposia and conferences. Under a pseudonym I have published a collection of short stories about Guatemala.
