Ahmed Sameh Abdel Aziz Helmi (Born 27 April 1992 in Cairo) is an Egyptian professional volleyball player, who is best known as Helmi. Measuring at 1,95 m and 81 Kg, he plays in the position of outside-hitter.
Born in Cairo, but raised in Budapest, Helmi is known for passing through many adversities in life - He injured his left foot badly when he was 8 years old following a car accident, and he was suspended for some time in 2007. Career
Helmi played his first game with Heliopolis Volleyball club in Egypt on October 22, 2001 when he was only 9 years old with the boys team. He also played with the Egyptian National Team for the first time on August 11, 2008 in the Youth African Cup which was hosted by Egypt and he helped his team reach the final but eventually lost to Tunisia 3-1. Helmi also played in the Youth World Cup which was hosted by Italy in 2009, but the Egyptian team was no match for the Power Countries of Volleyball and ended up in the 12th place. Helmi went back to play the Juniors African Cup in August 2010 in Libya and carried his team to the final, but yet again they met defeat against their rivals Tunisia 3-2.
