I am John W. Hurley a researcher, writer, publisher and practitioner of Irish martial arts and more specifically Irish stick-fighting or Bataireacht. I am the only author of modern books on Irish stick-fighting such as "Irish Gangs And Stick-Fighting: In The Works Of William Carleton", "The Shillelagh Makers Handbook", "The Dictionary Of Irish Martial Arts" and "Shillelagh: The Irish Fighting Stick" and I have more works which have yet to be published. I also started a trend in the Western Martial Arts community by re-publishing old martial arts manuals via Lulu.com and inspiring numerous others to do the same.

To be frank I have more important things to do with my time than write and edit on Wikipedia, but I have found that certain anonymous cyber trolls (mostly of the neo-pagan, Ken Pfrengian) persuasion have a habit of constantly meddling with the facts and realities of Irish stick-fighting and culture as I have documented them in my writings. So I am forced to constantly check and correct the Bataireacht stub which I created here on Wikipedia.
