VETO was a German heavy metal, formed in the mid-1980's and founded by guitarists Roger Bredel and Klaus Schile. The band was also comprised of Harry Liebhauser (lead vocals, keyboards) and Peter Schlattner on bass guitar. The band had issues finding a suitable permanent drummer.
In 1984 VETO signed with German label GAMA RECORDS (which also featured other heavy metal bands like: GRAVESTONE , NOISEHUNTER, STORMWITCH, TYRANT) but at the time failed to secure a permanent drummer. GAMA RECORDS label-boss Peter Garattoni, sat in on sessions to complete the first LP.
In 1986 they released a self titled LP “Veto” and was produced by in-house producer Batze Krammer(titles), while being mixed by Tom Kruger. Critics panned the released but was well received by heavy metal listeners. After completing the first album, Alwin Rainer took on the position of drummer, but soon left the band.
In 1987, still without a permanent drummer, VETO pressed on and recorded their second LP, once again with Peter Garattoni filling in on drums. “Carthago” was completed and released in 1988. The album again was ignored by mainstream rock and fell into obscurity.
Later in 1988, Harry left the band and was replaced by Dietmar Heiler. VETO disbanded just shortly after.
