Juan Lorenzo Rodriguez Flores
[edit]I currently am a postdoctoral associate in the Department of Genetic Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City.
I defended my my PhD in Bioinformatics and Systems Biology at the University of California, San Diego, co-mentored by Daniel O'Connor, Professor of Medicine and Shankar Subramaniam, Professor of Bioengineering. My research involves identifying and characterizing single nucleotide polymorphisms associated with human disease, focusing on the Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms in the adrenaline-synthesis enzyme PNMT (Phenylethanolamine N-methyltransferase.
I have a M.S. in Bioinformatics from UCSD and a B.S. in Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. I was born and raised in Puerto Rico. Fluent in Spanish and English, competent in Russian, French and Italian.
