About me

[edit]

Some things I like to do are playing music, dancing, and photography. But somethings that people don't know about me is that I like to sing as well so that might be a shocker to most people. Singing is a skill that has to be developed to be a "good singer"[1] so for the past two years, I have been trying to improve my singing because I want to have a voice that stands out, and overall I just really like singing. Another thing about me is that I am not an animal person which means I do not like certain animals such as birds, cats, bugs, rodents, etc.

My Wikipedia interests

[edit]

For the future, I might look at Wikipedia again for some interesting facts about my interests in life or if I ever make a big platform for myself in the future, I could add on to my biography and put down more stuff about me. My interests in Wikipedia back then were more like a resource for school and for something like history class, but the more I read into it I kind of get more into how much information and interesting facts Wikipedia has. I am looking forward to using Wikipedia a lot in the future and I hope that I will learn many new things a long the way.

Article Evaluation

[edit]

For my article evaluation, I decided to evaluate a Wikipedia article about one of the members from BTS (Bang-Tan Boys), Jungkook. I am interested in this topic because I have a personal connection to the band and grew up with their music from elementary school until now. I visited the Jungkook article on Wikipedia and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: How the article is up-to-date, there is no irrelevant information in this article, and how there is no informal language being used.

First claim

[edit]

The first subject I wanted to talk about was how the article is up-to-date. The article's last edit was recently made on the 9th of October, 2021. As the article details one of his first television appearances, such as when he auditioned for a show called “Superstar K[1]” back in 2011, it also details his most recent achievement as part of BTS as a group by mentioning how "In July 2021, he was appointed Special Presidential Envoy for Future Generations and Culture by President Moon Jae-in"[2]. The Wikipedia article even mentions Jungkook's most recent personal achievements outside of his career such as his enrollment at Global Cyber University. and when he enrolled in the school. Overall, the article shows evidence of recent editing as well as up-to-date information about Jungkook in various sections of the article.

Second claim

[edit]

My second subject is how there is no irrelevant information written in the article. For example in the article, although there are some sections in the article that mentions BTS, it does not mention the band's achievements as a whole but focuses more on Jungkooks own achievements while under the name of the band. So there is no irrelevant information about any of the other members of BTS, it just shows Jungkook's information and career achievements. This article is based on Jungkook as an artist and so it does not focus on his personal life outside of his public achievements such as where he hangs out with his friends, who his friends outside of his work are, or scandalous information. But rather it focuses on his beginnings into his career and shows this growth as a music artist.

Third claim

[edit]

My third subject is that there is no informal language being used in the article at all. Going over the article and reading it through carefully, the article does not have any sentences that use words like "dude" or any other type of slurs included. The article has just been describing Jungkook's career in the second person and not in the first person writing like saying "I think" or "I saw that" etc. Overall the article is very professionally and formally written well.

Conclusion

[edit]

In conclusion, this article is about Jungkook, one of the band mates of BTS, is up-to-date, there is no irrelevant information in this article, and how there is no informal language being used. I would say this article is very well written and very resourceful in regards to learning about Jungkook as an artist and what he has achieved throughout his whole career thus far.
