Island Academy International School Island Academy International School is Antigua's first International Baccalaureate (IB) accredited institution, and provides an international curriculum in grades K - 11. The school is authorized to offer the IB Diploma Programme in grades 12 and 13. The international community includes a diverse staff and student body representing over 30 nationalities. The school opened its doors to students in September, 2001 in Piccadilly, Antigua.
Island Academy International School gained accreditation with the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) at the Diploma Level in early 2009. Island Academy is also accredited with the Ministry of Education of Antigua and Barbuda. The school is a member of the NAIS (National Association of Independent Schools [1]), a group representing the best in quality private school education with 1400 members in the US and around the world. 2009 saw Island Academy International School also join the Tri Association [2], an organization that promotes professional development for teachers in dozens of International Schools in the Caribbean, Mexico, Central America and Colombia.
In September 2009, Island Academy International School moved both the Elementary and the Secondary programs to the new purpose built facility on 15 acres of prime real estate at Oliver's, located in central Antigua. This move provides additional space for growth and facilities, and unifies the entire school on one campus.
