Sunset Country Club Located near St. Louis, Missouri, in the suburb of Sunset Hills, Missouri, Sunset CC was founded in 1910 by Adolphus Busch to serve as a dining club, featuring his Anheuser-Busch products. Busch's awareness of the growing Temperance movement and the anti-saloon league activity, which focused on liquor, was of great concern to him. His German heritage made him a strong promoter of beer and he wished to serve beer and wine in an "elegant and refined environment" in an attempt to separate these products from liquor. He also made an attempt to bring together other St. Louis area breweries into this effort, however, his voice fell on deaf ears as there was too much competition among the breweries for them to work together.

Busch was assisted in the formation of what was then called Sunset Hill Dining Club by Eberhard Anheuser and August A. Busch Sr. In 1903, Busch Sr. had purchased land not far from the site of the new Sunset Hill Dining Club on Gravois Road, which would become known as Grant's Farm.

Upon the Sunset Hill site, Busch built a large two-story clubhouse, capable of seating nearly 1,000 diners. The first floow had a grand entry with a number of room available for members to use. In 1910, membership was $10 per year and $10 per month. At its peak, there were over 1,800 members.

In May 1911, August Sr. and Eberhard Anheuser founded the Sunset Hill Country Club, locating the clubhouse in a building situated adjacent to the main Sunset Hill Dining Club. Behind these buildings was a stable, used to house the horses and carriages of members arriving to dine.
