This is the message of the gospel.

Whoever who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. –Romans 10:13

1) There is only one true and living God.

Isaiah 45:21b-22 NASB And there is no other God besides Me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none except Me. Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth; For I am God, and there is no other.

2) God is the one who created the earth, the heavens and mankind.

Genesis 1:1 NASB In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Genesis 1:26-27 NASB Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

3) We all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).

Isaiah 53:6a NASB All of us like sheep have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way.

4) Sin is punishable by death (Romans 6:23).

Hebrews 9:27 NASB And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment.
Revelation 21:8 NASB But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.
Romans 6:23 NASB For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

5) We cannot work for our own salvation because we are totally sinful.

Isaiah 64:6 NASB For all of us have becoe like one who is unclean, And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment; And all of us wither like a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.
Ephesians 2:8-9 NASB For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Now, we are under the wrath of the holy God because of sin. But, wait… Is there hope and other means to salvation? Yes!

6) In God’s love, He sent His precious Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross to pay the penalty of sin in full. He resurrected on the third day and ascended to heaven thereafter.

1 Corinthians 15:3-4 NASB For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures. He is now alive!
John 3:16 NASB For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
Romans 5:8-10 NASB But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.
Isaiah 53:5 NASB But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, and by His scourging we are healed.

Now what? What is my duty?

7) Acknowledge your sinfulness, believe in the gospel, repent of your sins and receive Christ as your Lord and Saviour. That is the only way to salvation. Be reconciled to God. God is calling you. Call upon Him and be saved.

Mark 1:15 NASB The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.
2 Corinthians 5:20-21 NASB Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
Romans 10:9, 13 NASB that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

8) Say this prayer with your heart.

'Dear God, thank you for sending Your precious Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for my sins, and raising Him from the dead. I am a sinner, and willing to receive Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour. Forgive me for all my sins and may You be gracious and merciful to me. Come into my life and be my Lord. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray and give thanks. Amen.'
