Welcome
[edit]My name is Josh. I'm a a second-year graduate student in the Communication, Culture & Technology (CCT) M.A. program at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. My studies focus primarily on the intersection between political communication and new media, but, being the fun-loving cinephile that I am, I decided to take a class on film theory this semester. It's for that class that I've begun this Wiki, which I'll be updating periodically as part of my coursework.
Below is a short list of existing Wikis that interest me and that, in my humble opinion, could use some substantiation. Chances are I'll be picking one of the five to enhance as part of a class project. As the list might lead one to believe, I'm into obscure 'genre' cinema.
Potential Research Topics
[edit]
Giallo
Mondo
Cinéma vérité
Exploitation (though I might pick a more specific exploitation sub-genre on which to focus)
New French Extremity
Riz Ortolani (composer)
Of the above options, the Mondo and New French Extremity articles seem ripest for addition. The Mondo article has been flagged for possible non-neutrality and consists mostly of lists. Meanwhile, New French Extremity is generally lacking in content.
Week 5 Assignment
[edit]I left suggestions on the Talk page for New French Extremity under the heading "Possible Expansions."
Week 6 Assignment
[edit]I contributed the following to the New French Extremity article:
Laugier does, however, acknowledge the existence of a broader wave of new European horror. He notes Spain, France, England and Sweden as contributors.[1]
