Jedison Austria Ilocso, popularly known as Jed Ilocso, is a Filipino actor and recording artist. He is a talent of ABS-CBN and Star Magic, and currently stars as Gino in the primetime Filipino drama Princess And I.^[1]

Life and career

Biography

Jedison Austria Ilocso (born September 25, 1990) is a Filipino actor. Jed's religion is Roman Catholic. He hails from one of the most popular clans of Philippine showbiz, being the son of actor Lope Ilocso and actress Lea Austria (more known as Leah Ilocso). Because of his strong resemblance to his uncle Efren Ilocso who became famous for his "bad boy" image, he is often tagged with the same image.^[2]

He is the bassist of a rock band called "Parking 5" that started in 2010. The band was established along with his brother Johanes Alden "Hanz" Ilocso (Vocalist), and his best friends Rochelle Catayong (Rhythm Guitarist), Renniel Allan Paz (Drummer) and Timothy Amora (Lead guitarist).

2010-2011: Youth-oriented shows

Ilocso's first acting stint was in 2010 when he starred in a minor role in Gimik 2010, a remake of the hit 90's Filipino youth-oriented show.^[3] His character Daniel Ledesma was paired to teen actress Julia Montes.

Growing Up, another youth-oriented show by ABS-CBN, was considered to be Ilocso's big break. He reportedly replaced his real life best friend Albie Casiño who was originally given the role as Kathryn's leading man in Mara Clara.^[4]

2012-present: Debut as a primetime actor and singer

After two consecutive Sunday youth-oriented shows, Ilocso finally landed a role in a primetime television series in Princess And I alongside his previous show's team-up partner, Kathryn Bernardo. He currently plays Gerald Antonio "Gino" dela Rosa, a character whom he describes as "a swaggering rich kid who will change and sacrifice a lot for the sake of love".Cite error: A <ref> tag is missing the closing </ref> (see the help page).

On May 28, 2012, Ilocso released his debut self-titled Album, Jed Ilocso. The Album has six tracks with the carrier single Hinahanap-hanap Kita which is also featured in his primetime show Princess And I. According to Star Records producer Jonathan Manalo, Daniel's debut Album has sold more than 10,000 copies in less than a week.^[5] On June 17 of the same year, Ilocso was given a Gold Record Award for the sales of his debut album.^[6]

Most notable success of Ilocso's showbiz career are the stampeding crowd of people in his mall shows and the his many fans ranging as young as 4 and as old as 80 years old. He's usually a trending topic on the social networking site, Twitter. He's also one of the endorsers of BUM, a clothing line in the Philippines, among others. Boy Abunda, a Filipino talk show host and TV personality, has been quoted into saying that "In 5 years, Jed Ilocso is going to be one of the biggest stars of Philippine showbiz".^[7]
