My name is Jim Vanides. I am new to Wikipedia and am particularly interested in articles related to education & technology. I am an educator and technologist leading the vision, strategy, and design of education technology programs for the HP Corporate Affairs team.

I am passionate about transformative learning experiences and the dedicated educators that help students around the world succeed. I have been instrumental in launching over 1500 primary, secondary, and higher education projects in 41 countries, and led the development of the HP Catalyst Academy, an online professional learning network for teachers and faculty in science, technology, engineering, math, and related high tech disciplines known as STEM(+). With the successful incubation of these mini-courses, we transferred the platform to the New Media Consortium (academy.nmc.org). My current work focuses on “data analytics” for learning. Overall, the programs have impacted hundreds of thousands of students around the world.

Since 2007, I have been writing in the HP blog, “Teaching, Learning, and Technology” and has been a contributing writer for the K12 education blog, “Guide to Digital Learning Environments”. In addition to his work at HP, Jim teaches an online course for Montana State University on the Science of Sound, a masters-level, conceptual physics course for teachers in grades 5 through 8. Jim served for three years as a board member for The Tech Museum of Innovation, a pre-eminent “innovation experience center” in Silicon Valley.

My past work at HP has included engineering design, engineering management, and program management in R&D, Manufacturing, and Business Development.
