Sheffield Predators The Sheffield Predators are an amateur American Football club in playing in BAFA CL Division 2 Central of the British American Football Association. They are based in Sheffield, England.

History

The Sheffield Predators, formed in 2008, fill a void of over 10 years during which Sheffield didn’t have a team in the top representative league of the sport in the UK. The inaugural meeting being held in a dusty pub with around 15 to 20 people in attendance, a short meeting was held and a committee finalised to lead the push to support a team in the City. The Board and Chairman worked hard throughout 2008 into 2009 and gained some financial support through a lottery grant to progress the idea, and bring the team to life. The team started life as the Sheffield Steelhawks and has now changed its name to Sheffield Predators. We applied for associate membership of the National League in 2009. The Predators will continue the tradition of success and innovation that has been the signature of Sheffield American Football since the sport came to the city in 1984. The First team being the Steel City Giants, who had great success in the early years, but faded as time passed. In 2010, the newly formed BAFACL approached the predators to help fill a vacancy left in the Schedule by Redditch Arrows and the team gratefully accepted the invitation. The Schedule that was presented to a new team was a daunting one, but although the team didn’t win a game the way the competed surprised a lot of the oppositions. The Predators draw players, supporters & fans of the game from an area covering Sheffield, Rotherham & North Derbyshire and the two University Teams within the City the Warriors and Sabres. Run at committee level by individuals with a proven track record of achievement in there chosen industry or field, the Predators are a professionally run entity with the infrastructure in place to meet expectations.
