Influence of World on Youth Believers thypgh; tho;tpy; FWf;fpLk; cyfk; All the World is a hospital and everyone in it is a terminal patient In his youth, everybody believes that the world began to exist only when he was born, and that everything really exists only for his sake. Young people will respond if the challenge is tough enough and hard enough. Youth wants a master and a controller. Young people were built for God, and without God as the center of their lives they become frustrated and confused, desperately grasping for and searching for security. Billy Graham

2. THE WORLD OF TIME : Why is time an important factor • Everyone needs time to fulfill essentials of life. • People who always tend to idle never seem to have time for anything. • People who want to do things always seem to be short of time to do all what they want to do. • Since no dedicated person can do all that he wants to do, he must develop a proper strategy so that no essential work is left undone. • Time is irreversible. Once lost forever lost.

   Why we should manage time

• Philips IInd law of Time Dynamics – Time, when left to itself, always tends to flow into the least useful activity. • Allowing the society, people, job to dictate time usage is allowing time to manage itself, an invitation to disaster in long term. • Allowing society to manage your time will result in: 1. Demands rising to unrealistic levels. 2. Neglect and failure of inner life. 3. Guilt over inability to fulfill the unrealistic demands. 4. Frustration and pain when lack of appreciation or criticism seen. • People tend to squander unearned riches on unproductive things …. Things which bring immediate results, but no long time gain. “Time” is no exception. • When time’s managed properly results in: 1. Ability to do all that one must do, in personal, family, ministry life. 2. Ability to recognise time available so that he can say both “yes” and “no” without guilt and as unto God. 3. Ability to demonstrate to lazy and busy people that even in 20th century, time can be ---- available. 4. Ability to meet dead lines in doing essentials and yet be flexible in life.

How to manage time A. It must start with a few recognisions. 1. Recongize that everyone does have time to do all what the Lord expects of him. 2. God’s expectations are reasonable, They may be difficult, but feasible. They are not impossible, 3. God is a God of order, not of confusion. 1cor.14:13. Thus priorities Duties given by Him do not conflict. 4. Conflicts of time always arise when human desires are confused with divine plan. 5. Everyone has the same amount of time. Therefore, the problem is not the availability but the management of time. 6. Unmanaged time ------ Didordered life-- Didordered ministry. 7. Redeeming time is a Biblical (not secular) idea; 8. Time can be redeemed only when one distinguishes between essentials/ non-essentials, Negotiables/ Non-Negotiables and duties/ opportunities.

Satan gets us involved in a lot of good things so that he might keep us away from the best. B. Keep a small note book for few weeks. 1. Record briefly each activity /non-activity when a change is made. 2. Analyze after few weeks to see how time fleeds away, a bit here a bit there. Stop the leaks. C. List your non-negotiables(Take afew days, if needed)

Understand that some non-negotiables (studies, time segments) might change with profession.
       D. List times needed for non-negotiables;(compare with how much you give these days).
       E. Calculate time left after the non-negotiables are taken care of.
       F.   Restrict your negotiables to the time that’s left;
       G. Build flexibility into your plans, Laws are for man, and not the other way round.

3.THE WORLD OF LONELINESS HOW TO HAVE A MEANINGFUL QUIET TIME What is quiet time? It is the time taken daily by a Christian to have communion with God. (fellowship with God through the word and Prayer). WHO WHEN WITH WHOM

WHY? 1. Because we need fellowship with God. a) We were created to have fellowship with God, Gen.2,3 b) Jesus Christ died on the Cross so that fellowship could be restored.(1Cor.1:9; 1John.1: 3-4) c) The regular quiet time during Jesus’ ministry was a source of His strength (Mar.1:35; Lk. 5:16; 22: 39-44) d) Every great man or woman of God throughout history has spent time alone with God. (Moses, David, Daniel, Paul….) e) We can’t be healthy, growing Christians without daily fellowship with the Lord. Job.23:12; Mt. 4:4; 1Pet.2:2; Heb.5:14

2. Because it is our privilege as Christians a) We give devotion to God (Ps. 29:2, 95:6) b) We get direction from God ( Ps.25:4-5; Is. 42:16; Ps.139:23-24) c) We gain delight in God (Ps.16:11) d) We grow more like God. ( John.17:17; 2Tim. 3:16-17; Rom.12:2)

3. Because we gain tremendous benefits from it a) Joy (Ps.16:11) b) Strength (Is,40:29-31) c) Peace (Ps.119: 165; Is.26:3 ) d) Stability (Ps. 46: 1-3) e) Success (Joh. 1:8) f) Answered Prayer (Joh. 15:7) g) Others will notice the difference in our lives ( Acts. 4:13)

HOW TO TAKE QUIET TIME: 1. Start with the proper attitudes. a) Expectancy (Ps.63:1; 42:1) b) Reverence (Hab.2:20; Ps. 89: 7) c) Willingness to obey (Joh.7: 17) 2. Select a specific time a) The best time is when you are at your best . Abraham (Gen.19:27) Job (Job.1:5) Jacob (Gen.28:18) Moses (Ex.34:4) David (Ps.5:3) “The most important meal of the day is breakfast” 3. Choose a special place [ Abraham(Gen.19:27) Jesus (Lk. 23:39) Issac (Gen. 24:63) ] 4. Follow a simple plan.

You will need the following 3 items for your planned quiet time.

1. A Bible 2. A note book 3 A hymn book SEVEN POINT PLAN ( atleast 30 minutes) 1. Relax (Wait on God) Be still for a minute. 2. Request. (Pray briefly ) one or two minutes.

          Ps.139: 23,24; Ps.119: 18.

3. Read (Read a section of the scripture) He speaks to you through His word. 4. Reflect (Meditate and memorise) Ask the right kind of questions. 5. Record (Write down what God has shown you) 6. Requests (Time of prayer ) Speak to God (10 minutes) - Praise the Lord(Ps.146-150) - Repent of your sins(ps.32; 1Jn.1:9; Ps.51) - Ask for yourself and others (Joh.14:13-14; Heb.4:16) - Yield yourself to god’s will(Rom.12:1,2; 14:8,9) 7. Recollect.

How to deal with Common Problems in the Quiet Time: a) The problem of discipline (“Battle of the Blankets”) 1. Go to bed on time 2. Get up immediately on waking 3. Be aware of quiet time “ROBBERS” ( T.V. etc.) 4. Go to bed with thoughts of scripture. b) The problem of Dryness. could be the result of one of the following causes. 1. Disobedience. 2. Your physical condition. 3. When it becomes routine. 4. Not sharing your insights with others. I am not alone but I am crucified with Cross Believer & Cross not separable 1. Self crucified in the cross Gal 2.20 – Christ liveth 2. Vision of the cross before us Gal 3.1 – Obedience 3. Crucified our flesh & desires Gal 5.24 – Fulfil His desires 4. World crucified to me & I to the world Gal 6.14 – Boasting Him 5. Old man crucified Rom 6.6 – I cannot master sin Benefits of the cross 1. Humbleness Phil 2.8 2. Strengthening 1Cor 1.18 3. We are free Col 2.14

4. THE WORLD OF TEMPTATION: Temptation is different from trial. Trial is testing of faith James 1.2,3 Ex JOB 1.Temptation is inevitable Jam 1.13 When one is tempted , It is common to man.

I Cor 10.13 The sadhu who lives in a cave wrestles with temptation as real as the common man on the street,

2. Temptation is not directed by God. Jam 1.13 God does not tempt anyone. God permits it but never directs it. 3. Being tempted is not sin but yielding to temptation is sin. We cannot prevent a bird flying over our head but we can prevent it making a nest on our head. 4. Each one is personally responsible for yielding to temptation. By our own lust, We sin when we exercise our will and agreeing to temptation. We should not blame anyone for our failure, Nothing even satan cannot cause us to sin – We can either agree or refuse to sin - Case 1. Cathay and sweet Frame 1. I’ll take a drive – wont go near the shop. 2. I’ll drive by the shop – not go in. 3. I’ll go in the store – not go to the candy section. 4. I’ll at the candy – not pick it up. 5. I’ll pick up – not buy it. 6. I’ll buy it – not open it 7. I’ll open it – not taste it 8. I’ll taste it – not eat it 9. Eat Eat 1Cor 10.13 Escape from every temptation on the first frame Cathay lost the battle when she decided to go

Case 2 A man struggling with lust sees a bad picture or a movie What is his response to his thinking 1. My relationship with sin has ended. 2. I don’t have to get into this. 3. My thoughts are captive to the obedience of Christ. 4. I am leaving the place of temptation.\ The thought will trigger an emotional landslide and physical response that will be very difficult to stop.

1. Daily prayer realising the weakness of our flesh. 2. Never feed the old but new. 3. Guard your inlets - Eyes Ears Job 31.1 Pro 4.25 4. Control our thought by memorising the words. 2Cor 10.5 Phil 4.8
