R1Soft, formerly known as Righteous Software, is a division of BBS Technologies, Inc.. Headquartered in Houston, Tx, R1Soft produces block level, disk-based backup and disaster recovery software for Windows and Linux Servers (Near Continuous Backup), including CDP Server for Windows and Linux, CDP for MySQL and Hot copy, a sysadmin tool.
The most well-known product, CDP Server for Linux, is a block level backup that works by reading your hard disk volumes and taking snapshots at the sector level, bypassing the file system for the ultimate performance and data recovery. The CDP Server synchronizes with the CDP Agent to track incremental changes on the system. Synchronization is performed while the server is online and provides no interruption to other I/O requests even on a busy server. By reading the disk at the lowest possible level, point-in-time recovery images contain your files and all the formatting, partition tables, and volume configuration needed for complete and instant disaster recovery.
There are two components to the R1Soft continuous data protection technology, a CDP Server and CDP Agent.
Founded by David Wartell in 2003, R1Soft initially offered Continuous Data Protection for Linux only and became a leading data protection provider for Web hosts, data centers, and Linux users. R1Soft released CDP for Windows in Spring 2007 and was acquired by BBS Technologies, Inc. in November 2007. Today, R1Soft CDP protects more than 100,000 Windows and Linux mission-critical servers worldwide. BBS Technologies Inc. also has additional offices in Europe and Brazil.
